Scott Colom is the Democratic nominee in Mississippi's 2026 U.S. Senate election. His public record on Israel and Middle East policy is limited. The record
Positions come from public votes, statements and on-the-record interviews. Every claim links to its source. No aggregate score or grade.
Support for a Strong U.S.-Israel Alliance
At the June 2026 Neshoba County Fair, Colom described himself as the only candidate who was not “beholden to the pro-Israel lobby.” The remark addressed his claimed political independence from pro-Israel advocacy groups; it did not establish a position on U.S. military assistance to Israel, defense cooperation, arms transfers, Israel's right to self- defense, or the broader U.S.-Israel alliance.
Preventing a Nuclear Iran
Colom has criticized the U.S. war with Iran as part of his 2026 campaign, arguing that voters had been promised “no more endless wars.”
Fighting Antisemitism
In a 2019 op-ed, then-District Attorney Colom urged Mississippi lawmakers to strengthen and broaden the state's hate-crime law, arguing that bias-motivated violence remained a serious problem and that updating the law would signal Mississippi's commitment to protecting individual freedom. The article addressed hate crimes broadly and was not specifically focused on antisemitism.
