Summary

Mike Rogers is the Republican nominee in Michigan's 2026 U.S. Senate election and will face Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed.

Mike Rogers is the Republican nominee in Michigan's 2026 U.S. Senate election. He has described himself as a strong supporter of Israel and has argued that Israel must be able to defend itself against Iran, Hamas, and other regional threats. Rogers supported U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear program in 2025 and has said the United States should preserve the option of future military action if Iran rebuilds nuclear capabilities, while also using negotiations and economic pressure.

Rogers has made antisemitism a prominent 2026 campaign issue. He has warned about antisemitism on both the political left and right, said Republican leaders must prevent fringe antisemitic views from entering the mainstream, and described the March 2026 Temple Israel attack as evidence that Jewish communities are specifically targeted by extremist violence. He has proposed meeting university presidents and pressing for concrete mitigation plans to protect Jewish students. Rogers has also conducted Jewish-community outreach during the general- election campaign.

The record

Positions come from public votes, statements and on-the-record interviews. Every claim links to its source. No aggregate score or grade.

Support for a Strong U.S.-Israel Alliance

  • In April 2026, Rogers described himself as a vocal supporter of Israel and said Israel must be able to defend itself against regional threats. He argued that the U.S.-Israel relationship should remain strong even amid policy disagreements.

Preventing a Nuclear Iran

  • Rogers supported U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear program in 2025 and said the option of future military action should remain available if Iran rebuilds nuclear capability. He paired that position with support for negotiations and sustained pressure, and has long opposed the JCPOA framework.

Condemning and Combating Terrorism

  • Rogers has identified Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Iran-backed groups as terrorist threats to Israel and U.S. interests. His public 2026 emphasis is on maintaining deterrence and preventing extremist violence.

Response to Hamas's October 7 Attack

  • Days after the attack, Rogers laid out a detailed response in an October 2023 Detroit News op-ed, calling for the destruction of Hamas, the further isolation of Iran, and support for Israel as it worked to defeat Hamas terrorists and recover the hostages taken into Gaza. He framed the attack as an act of evil that had to be confronted.

Fighting Antisemitism

  • Rogers said in April 2026 that antisemitism is growing on both the left and the right and argued that Republicans have a responsibility to prevent fringe antisemitic views from entering the political mainstream.

Protecting Jewish Students on Campus

  • Rogers said he would meet with Michigan university presidents and demand specific mitigation plans addressing antisemitism and threats to Jewish students.

Protecting Jewish Institutions and Communities

  • After the March 2026 Temple Israel attack, Rogers emphasized that Jewish institutions and communities were being specifically targeted by extremist violence.

Standing Against Political Extremism

  • Rogers has explicitly warned that extremist and antisemitic voices should not be normalized in either political party and has condemned political violence targeting Jewish institutions.
