Summary
A San Francisco supervisor since 2021, Chan is running for the open 11th District seat that is being vacated by the retiring former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In the June 2026 top two primary she finished second, behind state Senator Scott Wiener, and both advanced to the November general election. She accuses Israel of committing genocide and backs a total arms embargo.

Genocide accusation and arms embargo
Chan says Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people and calls for an end to United States military aid. She has pledged to be an immediate sponsor of the Block the Bombs Act, which would block transfers of certain weapons to Israel, and to support a total arms embargo. In her campaign she has said Israel has violated human rights and prolonged the conflict.
Opposition to pro-Israel groups
Chan has pledged to refuse campaign contributions from AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups, and she received the endorsement of Track AIPAC, an advocacy group that opposes AIPAC. While doing that, she affirmed the genocide accusation, backed a total arms embargo, committed to rejecting support from pro-Israel groups.
Antisemitism
She has pledged to have AIPAC register as a foreign agent, which many observers have noted invokes antisemitic dual loyalty tropes.
